A Distributed Hydrogen Energy Storage System (Distributed Hydrogen ESS) is a flexible, scalable energy storage solution that uses hydrogen as an energy carrier to store surplus electrical energy typically from renewable sources like solar and wind, and then regenerate electricity or thermal energy when needed. Instead of relying solely on batteries, this system electrolyzes water to produce hydrogen, stores it safely (in tanks or underground caverns), and later converts it back to electricity via fuel cells or gas turbines.
