An IEC Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) is an advanced industrial electric motor designed according to IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards that operates on the principle of magnetic reluctance to produce synchronous torque. Unlike traditional permanent‑magnet or wound‑field synchronous motors, an RSM generates torque through the tendency of its rotor to align with the rotating magnetic field of the stator, achieving synchronous speed operation with low rotor losses.
